I really liked reading your article. I am a teacher and have been a victim of parent bullying for the past few years.

Since the parent does not have to look me in the eye to rant and rave about their complaint, they take advantage of being able to email whatever is on their mind. This is not usually their final “draft”, it is the first draft with vicious, cruel and often inappropriate language. They include information about what their child told them at home, and take it as the Gospel truth before allowing the teacher to share the “other side” of the story.

Too often these parents don’t even go to the teacher first to share their concerns. They go directly to the principal with the intention of trying to “get the teacher in trouble”.

I am beginning to think that these parents had problems in school with their teachers and this is their opportunity to “get back” at the teachers who they believe “wronged them”.

These parents are disrespectful, rude, and have no social skills to deal with the situation in a respectful manner. Since principals don’t want their school to look bad to the public, the administrator will pass the problem on to the teacher to solve. If the teacher can’t make the parent happy, then it is the teacher’s fault, according to the administrator.

Administrators will eventually decide to micromanage teachers who have these bully parents and make the teacher’s life miserable! Principals blame teachers for this problem and it is easier to harass and bully the teacher to quit, than to follow “due process” laws.

I am a victim of a bad principal with no leadership skills. He wants his picture in the paper for all the great things the school does (what the teachers do!) and not be the educational Leader of the school.

Karen Horowitz has written an excellent book titled, “White Collar Chalk Crime; The Real Reason Schools Fail.” You will be horrified as you read about how administrators get rid of teachers. What they are doing is illegal and it must stop!

OMG! I think you just described my workPlace to the “T”!!! I am so glad to see that I am not alone in this dilemma. I am a married woman mother to four beautiful children, and I have been targeted in my workplace! I desperately need my job to maintain my household, and I’m beind bullied to the highest possible extent! I wish I could fight back but I’ve been going through this for four years and my appearance, mental, emotional, and physical health is tremendously being affected. I am at the end of my rope here but it really started to go downhill after the death of my Father. About two years I complained to HR about my Manager and it really got bad! My whole dept. are lemmings, most of the facility knows about what happened, so of course I’m on that “list”. I don’t want to lose my job but I need a change but I’m afraid that wherever I go this will ultimately follow me because this is the kind of influential company I work for! What on earth can I do? I feel that this place is going to be the death of me! Please help me!

Thanks for the write-up. I definitely agree with what you are saying. I have been talking about this subject a lot lately with my father so hopefully this will get him to see my point of view. Fingers crossed!
